Hello everyone! I'm Sal, a retired veteran and home cook with several years of experience developing recipes and sharing fitness-focused tips!
Born and raised in the D.M.V. area, I grew up always being known as the tomboy of the neighborhood. If you were looking for me, I was most likely playing basketball or football with the boys. They would bully me and make fun of me all the time and I would kill their ego with natural skill and a smile. Fitness gave me purpose and confidence early on and has continued to be the driving force behind my chosen career paths.
In 2014, I enlisted in the Army as a Food Inspector. While on active duty in my barracks room, I decided I wanted to start making my meals and desserts from scratch. It was so therapeutic and also a great way to learn even more about food. Eventually, I would begin to take things more seriously and start my online blog in 2019.
I retired from the Army in 2023, and have continued to expand my knowledge on food and fitness so I can help others. I am currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Public Health with a concentration in Nutrition and Wellness. I am also the owner of Sal's Sweets Bakery (see menu bar for more).
