Tips For Perfect Cinnamon-Sugar Pumpkin Donuts
Pumpkin puree: Be sure to use puree NOT pumpkin pie filling. They are different. Puree is 100% pure pumpkin with no added flavors while pumpkin pie filling includes all of the traditional ingredients used in pumpkin pie.
Donut pan: You will need a donut pan. I have a large one that has 20 donut holes and they all came out perfect especially since I buttered the pan.
Butter: Speaking of butter, if you don't have a nonstick pan, wipe down every donut hole with butter or with non stick oil.
Cinnamon-sugar coating: The donuts are pretty good on their own but the coating makes them sweeter and more addictive.
Try something different: Ditch the cinnamon sugar and just add some chocolate chips to the batter.
Let them cool: Allow the donuts to cool before adding any toppings.
How To Make Donuts Fitness Friendly
Substitute flour: Swap the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour or almond flour for added fiber, protein, and nutrients.
Ditch the sugar: Skip out on the cinnamon sugar coating until next time!
Use cooking oil spray: Coat the donut pan with oil spray instead of butter to reduce fat and calories.
Egg whites only: Reduce fat and calories by only adding the egg whites to the mix.
Portion control: Use a mini donut pan to make smaller portions. Make sure to adjust the cooking time.
